As a Customer Account Officer within our Submarines Business, you will work as part of the Customer Team to source and analyse market data and customer intelligence and strategic stakeholder management to support driving business direction and activity with reasoned insights and recommendations (nationally and internationally). You will use the wider team’s knowledge of customers, potential competitors, the changing technology landscape and our capability, to direct intelligence gathering and analytical activity. You will support in the production of key accounts plans, stakeholder engagement plans and reports for general consumption to inform a wide range of business activities as well as providing bespoke and focussed analysis to support decision making and strategic positioning.

You will be comfortable and productive working with many and varied parts of the business to gather and analyse information and develop insights and recommendations.

What you will be doing:

  • Source and analyse market intelligence and data (customer, competitor, technology and policy landscape).
  • Maintain a good understanding of the product portfolio and capabilities of the Rolls-Royce Submarines business to inform analysis.
  • Conduct analysis on market data, intelligence and policy to provide the business with reasoned insights and recommendations.

  • Ability to take a strategic level view.
  • Contextual macro-economic industry knowledge and understanding.

  • A positive team player with experience of working collaboratively and supporting their colleagues.
  • Ability to confidently work with and influence wider audiences using clear communication and relationship building skills, including senior management, the customer and other external organisations.
  • Ability to write formal reports and make presentations for executive audiences.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills.
  • Proactivity, flexibility and creativity.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience within the nuclear defence sector.
  • Domain knowledge of Rolls-Royce Submarines products and services.
  • Knowledge of marine propulsion systems (nuclear and non-nuclear).
  • Current/recent experience of working in the UK Ministry of Defence or closely related business environment.
  • Understanding of financial analysis methods & valuation principles.
