As a Component Repair Engineer you will develop repair process definitions and repair sources by optimising concepts and solutions within agreed engineering and business constraints. You will enhance the competitive and commercial performance of Rolls‑Royce and its customers and, where relevant, its suppliers across the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop repair definitions to meet the needs of the business and customers.
  • Return service‑run components to a serviceable condition using various manufacturing or laboratory processes.
  • Define and maintain technical requirements for component repair processes and ensure compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for new repairs based on the condition of service‑run components and define technical limits of feasibility.
  • Verify repair methods, ensuring all engineering, design and specification requirements are correctly understood, accounted for and recorded.
  • Define validation and verification requirements for repair definitions.
  • Create and maintain relationships with customers to ensure technical solutions meet agreed requirements.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers and Product Definers to consider repair methods during initial design concepts and identify technology gaps early in the lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant technical degree or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Solid knowledge of the functionality of relevant components and systems, considering form, fit and function.
  • Understanding of system, subsystem and component design and the impact of repair on the greater system.
  • Knowledge of material properties for material selection or process execution, including chemistry, structure, mechanical and chemical performance.
  • Ability to create technical solutions with a life‑cycle cost philosophy.
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business, and detailed knowledge of those relevant to the role.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and industry codes and standards (e.g., design codes) applicable to the role.
