The Chief Design Engineer – Regen role reports to the Chief Engineer – Nuclear Facilities and is responsible for maintaining and controlling the design and safety baseline for the new nuclear facilities being designed for the Raynesway Estate in Derby.
In this role, the engineer will oversee the integration and management of requirements, assumptions and interfaces during the Concept Design phase and will later establish and control the design and safety baselines for the mature facility designs.
Responsibilities Act as deputy to the Chief Engineer – Nuclear Facilities for roles and appointments delegated through a Certificate of Appointment.
Maintain and manage the design and safety baselines for a suite of new nuclear facilities.
Provide leadership and direction to subject‑matter experts and designated support staff, ensuring robust deployment and maintenance of their capabilities.
Ensure effective knowledge management in line with company Ki D policy through knowledge capture, lessons learned and best practice guides, encouraging knowledge sharing within and beyond the group.
Manage the design and safety baseline of complex nuclear products or facilities, including experience of configuration management, asset management and safety case management.
Demonstrate effective leadership and engineering skills.
Execute engineering processes (in accordance with a quality system) and safety management arrangements, preferably with experience of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
Manage engineering change through modification of physical assets and underlying configuration data.
Qualifications Qualified to a degree level or equivalent.
Experience in managing design and safety baselines for complex nuclear facilities.
Proven experience in configuration management, asset management and safety case management.
Demonstrated leadership and engineering expertise.
Experience setting and executing engineering processes and safety management arrangements in accordance with nuclear site licence conditions.
Experience managing engineering change involving physical assets and configuration data.
