The Business Development and Improvement Manager is a leadership position within the Aftermarket Operations Off‑Wing organisation aligned to the VP MRO – Repair & Used Material, based in Derby, U.K. It is focused on leading the Repair and Reuse for Resilience transformation program on behalf of the VP MRO, implementing an Operating Management System across Repair & Used Material, and driving other specific improvement programs as agreed. This role is a key interface point for the global Aftermarket organisation and will work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and the Value Streams to ensure we are delivering on customer commitments. Aftermarket Operations has launched the Repair & Reuse for Resilience transformation program with an objective to build a more resilient supply chain by ensuring we are driving the right priorities through the different elements of the Repair value stream (authoring, sourcing, FAIR readiness, industrialization, supplier performance, and SUM conversion and consumption). Therefore, this role will have a high level of visibility and requires a candidate with the ability to drive change across the organization. In addition, the ideal candidate must be able to plan and coordinate many different kinds of activities in a diverse technical environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Repair & Reuse for Resilience transformation program as a cross‑functional integration point with Engineering, Procurement, Quality and Value Streams.
- Implement the Operating Management System across Repair & Used Material.
- Drive and coach the maturity of other relevant production system requirements and standards across the business, ensuring adequate capability solutions are in place.
- Embed a safety culture and create a broader team environment that maximizes engagement and development, ensuring everyone can be at their best. Experience in MRO.
- Previous experience managing complex programs and driving change through an organization.
Qualifications
- Associate\’s degree and 8+ years of experience in an aviation discipline, or in lieu of a degree 14+ years of experience in an aviation discipline.
Preferred Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of gas turbine maintenance and repair processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with airworthiness regulations.
- Ability to influence and be a great communicator at senior levels.
- Ability to prioritise, work independently or in a team environment with a strong customer focus.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships and a good network across the organisation.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical details and solve complex technical issues.
- Ability to demonstrate strategic ability, problem solving, and decision making.
- Experience working with multiple business functions, both technical and non‑technical.
- Strong integration / program management / delivery mindset.
- Data‑driven approach with the ability to distil complex datasets into simple messages.
- Experience leading and developing teams (both direct and indirect).
