Working Pattern: 5 days per week, Mon - Friday

Working location: Hybrid, 3 days per week in Filton, Bristol

When you join Rolls-Royce as a Project Accountant, you’ll play a vital role supporting the UK & International Mature Programmes by providing insightful financial analysis, management and statutory reporting that drives strategic decision-making and programme performance. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders to turn financial data into meaningful operational stories, enabling better forecasting and risk management. You will be responsible for a tremendously impactful programme, a key part of Rolls-Royce’s Defence offering and of utmost importance to the UK Government and its global allies.

What you will be doing:

  • As a Project Accountant working with the UK&I Mature Programmes team, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering accurate financial insights, management and statutory reporting that drives informed decision-making.
  • Your work will directly influence programme performance by connecting financial data with operational realities, helping to forecast risks and opportunities effectively.
  • Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, you’ll translate complex numbers into clear, actionable stories that support business goals.
  • Partnering with the programme management team to provide timely financial commentary, insights and supporting forecasting, connecting the numbers with operational drivers.
  • Preparing management journals to ensure accurate reflection of financial performance.
  • Maintaining a strong financial controls environment, which includes ownership of the balance sheet and ensuring compliance with Group policies.
  • Delivering end to end statutory reporting, including taking ownership of the external audit queries.

  • Experience in project accounting and financial analysis, ideally within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong ERP skills (ideally in SAP) and advanced Excel capabilities, with the ability to build and understand insightful workbooks that go beyond basic formulas.
  • Ability to explain numbers through operational context and partner effectively with stakeholders.
  • Experience in statutory reporting and supporting external audit queries. Working knowledge of relevant accounting standards is essential.
  • Proactive mindset with excellent prioritisation and self-management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative approach, able to work effectively within a team and challenge constructively.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
