This is an exciting role within the UK & International (UK&I) Business Development & Future Programmes team responsible for leading Defence sales, bids and proposals activity outside of North America. It will define and lead Sales Campaigns based on the agreed strategy for Rolls-Royce products, systems and services for all designated customers and potential customers. The role will also be accountable for driving commercial optimisation and delivering profitable growth in line with the 5 Year Plan.
This role is accountable for driving transformation of our Sales and Business Development capabilities to those of a 21st Century digital-first company, capable of competing in the UK and international Defence markets.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the UK&I Sales team to support delivery of Sales campaigns, prospects and opportunities within the agreed budget and timescales to secure order intake and optimised commercial outcomes.
- Deliver robust order intake forecast data to the business Sales Inventory and Operational Planning (SIOP) and Financial Planning processes.
- Forecast and manage operating costs for BD&FP including Sponsorships, and Sales Related Costs.
- Own the interface with relevant UK Government National Armaments Director (NAD) Group stakeholders, and others across HMG focussed on Defence Exports, to promote Rolls-Royce exports and secure HMG support for our key export campaigns.
- Work closely with the BD&FP - US Team to transform the sales value stream to achieve global Defence alignment of Sales Processes and tools, collaborating with other business units as appropriate.
- Establish a team of product and service focussed Sales specialists that actively collaborate with regional teams to gain approval for and close on qualified opportunities.
- Lead delivery of Commercially Optimised bids and proposals that achieve agreed sales and financial targets.
- Provide leadership within the UK & International Business Development & Future Programmes team, while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high performance and ethical (win right) behaviour.
- Maintain oversight of all shows across the international market, ensuring consistent standards, and the co-ordination and leadership of major shows in UK & France (Farnborough & Paris Air Shows, and DSEI).
Position qualifications:
- Proven track record of successfully delivering Sales campaigns, growth and results in line with the committed plan.
- Strong business acumen and financial/commercial experience.
- Experience with complex external negotiations.
- Experience influencing and managing senior relationships through effective stakeholder management.
- Able to build strong relationships across organisational boundaries and influence key stakeholders.
- Strong ability to work within and across multiple teams to get tasks done, demonstration of self-drive, motivation and working independently.
- Strong and visible demonstration of Company Leadership Expectations and Behaviours.

For this role you will be required to have Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
