Join us at RAF Marham as a Field Service Technician, supporting the UK’s F 35B Lightning fleet. You’ll work at the cutting edge of defence aviation—embedded with front line units, maintaining 5th generation STOVL propulsion systems, and deploying worldwide, including aboard Queen Elizabeth class carriers.

You’ll maintain the Rolls Royce LiftSystem, F 135 600 engine, and propulsion support equipment while operating under Rolls Royce and RAF/RN quality systems. If you’ve completed a Rolls Royce Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent) and want a high impact, hands on role, you’ll receive specialist UK and US training plus a structured 12–18 month pathway to full operator and certifier approval.

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver the contracted F-35B Propulsion Systems Maintenance Service to the UK Lightning Force
  • Deliver OJT to customer maintainers in order to up-skill personnel new to the aircraft
  • Assist the resident R-R and P&W Field Service Representatives (FSRs) and Power Plant Engineers (PPEs) in providing specialist advice in respect of the operation and maintenance of the ME and LS
  • Provide a robust link between the customer and the on-site Service Delivery Centre and the LS Service Engineering and Fleet Management Teams in Indianapolis
  • Assist in the raising of Technical Variances (TVs) and Action Requests (ARs) as appropriate.

Who we’re looking for:

At Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. These principles form the behaviours that guide us and are an essential component of our assessment process. They are the fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Completed a R-R Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 6 months of relevant ‘hands on’ maintenance experience
  • Ability to pass the 'Field Operations Medical Standard for Fitness’
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety best practices.
  • A high level of propulsion systems knowledge
  • Ability to align working patterns to military colleagues
  • Willingness and ability to deploy for periods of up to 90 days to locations throughout the UK and globally, including periods embarked on the Royal Navy’s Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers, and deployments conducted under UK ‘Contractors Deployed on Operations’ (CONDO) protocols.

Regional Benefits:

  • Generous Annual Leave
  • Group Income Protection provides an income in the event that you are unable to work due to illness or injury
  • Group Life Assurance provides for a lump sum benefit if you die whilst employed by Rolls-Royce
  • Digital GP provides a convenient way for you to access GP consultations
  • Employee Assistance (EAP) and Live Well programmes
