An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Data Governance Specialist to join the digital and IT Defence team in Bristol. You will play a critical role in shaping the organisation’s data management and ensuring data quality, compliance, and effective utilisation.

You will be responsible for:

  • Data modelling, data governance, data quality assurance, process improvements, risk mitigation and training & awareness across the defence programmes.
  • Creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models, defining data structures, relationships, and hierarchies, and ensuring alignment with business requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to establish data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with customer data compliance requirements.
  • Monitoring data access controls and permissions.
  • Educating employees on data governance principles and best practices.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of data quality assurance, identifying data anomalies and working with business functions to improve data quality across systems.
  • Continuously assessing and enhancing compliance processes related to data governance and quality, supporting the development and implementation of data projects, and proposing process improvements to streamline data-related workflows.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Be flexible travelling to Japan/Italy on a regular basis.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Have familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data profiling and data modelling tools.
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Understand data governance principles and data quality frameworks.
