This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.The Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) function is responsible for delivering integrated control, instrumentation and monitoring systems across the power station. C&I Components & Physical Integration is responsible for ensuring these systems are physically integrated, qualified and deliverable within the overall plant design.About the Role:As a Senior Manager – C&I (Components & Physical Integration), you will lead the specification, design, integration, qualification and delivery of C&I hardware, instrumentation, equipment packages and plant integration solutions across the SMR programme.You will provide leadership for the integration of sensors, transmitters, instrumentation assemblies, field equipment, cabinets, equipment rooms, cable routing, penetrations, supports, installation arrangements and plant interfaces required to implement the overall C&I architecture.Working closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Layout, Equipment Qualification, Safety Case and Plant Integration teams, you will ensure complete, coordinated and constructible solutions while maintaining compliance with nuclear safety, qualification and operability requirements.A major part of this role will involve acting as the intelligent customer for instrumentation suppliers, equipment manufacturers, package vendors and engineering service providers, establishing a world-class C&I integration capability to support fleet deployment.We’ll Need You To:Lead specification and delivery of instrumentation, field equipment and C&I hardware packagesDefine equipment performance, environmental qualification and reliability requirementsDevelop strategies supporting safe operation, maintenance and lifecycle performanceEnsure alignment between component selection and plant-wide requirementsLead equipment qualification activities including environmental, seismic and EMC qualificationChair technical reviews, governance meetings and engineering assurance activitiesLead physical integration of C&I systems within plant buildings and modulesDefine equipment access, location, installation and maintainability requirementsCoordinate interfaces with Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Plant Layout teamsSupport constructability, operability and commissioning reviewsEstablish strategic supplier relationships and manage equipment supply chainsLead vendor assessment, supplier qualification and equipment selection activitiesDrive programme delivery, quality assurance and technical risk managementBuild and develop a high-performing engineering organisationKey Skills Required:We know there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect’ candidate. If you meet around 75% of the criteria below, we’d love to hear from you:Extensive experience in instrumentation engineering, hardware specification and equipment lifecycle managementStrong background in physical integration, plant layout and design coordinationExperience managing equipment qualification activities, including environmental and seismic qualificationStrong knowledge of systems engineering and design integration principlesExperience coordinating complex multidisciplinary engineering interfacesUnderstanding of nuclear safety classification, safety case support and regulatory complianceExperience leading strategic supplier relationships and managing vendor-delivered packagesStrong programme delivery, commercial awareness and stakeholder management skillsExperience leading engineering organisations and developing technical capabilityUnderstanding of modular plant design and industrialised construction methodologiesQualifications:Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering, Systems Engineering or another STEM disciplineChartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registrationSignificant experience delivering instrumentation, integration or equipment solutions in regulated environmentsLocation:Hybrid working with one of the following as your primary site:Derby, Manchester or Warrington.Salary and Package:The salary band for this role will be between £71,000 – £93,200 dependent on the skills, values and knowledge you bring.
