We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to take ownership of the Fuel Handling System within the cutting‑edge RR‑SMR power station. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design and development of critical systems that enable safe and efficient fuel handling in a next‑generation nuclear facility.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the progressive design of systems including the refuelling pool, spent‑fuel pool, new fuel import system, cask loading system, and dry cask storage system.
- Drive design development through Technical Reviews (TRs), Gated Reviews (GRs), and Definition Reviews (DRs).
- Engage with senior stakeholders, conduct decision reviews, and document outcomes for phase‑gate processes.
- Own system definition, requirements, assumptions, and interfaces in the DOORS database.
- Mentor junior engineers and contingent workers to deliver your system scope.
- Develop non‑functional requirements, review operational experience, and introduce innovative concepts.
- Produce concept‑level 2D and 3D CAD models to support decision‑making and contribute to the evolving reference design.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in Mechanical System Design Development.
- Expertise in System Engineering Essentials.
- Nuclear industry domain knowledge.
- Experience in Fuel Handling, Mechanical Handling, and Remote Handling.
- Proven ability to take ownership of design packages and deliver results.
Success Criteria
- Follow the design programme in line with RR‑SMR’s policies and processes.
- Develop design solutions aligned with industry best practice, operational experience, and continuous improvement.
- Author high‑quality design outputs to underpin system development, delivered to agreed timescales.
- Manage and agree requirements across your scope, ensuring compliance with V&V plans and programmes.
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities associated with the system scope.
- Follow robust governance processes for the system scope of supply as agreed with your manager.
- Work in compliance with company Health, Safety and Environment policy.
- Promote and adhere to company values, including Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion.
Pay and Benefits
- Base salary ÂŁ48,000-ÂŁ63,000 DOE.
- Bonus – Performance related target opportunity 12.5%.
- Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum.
- Pension – 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
