The DigIT team is a newly formed unit within Rolls-Royce SMR, focused on developing a greenfield technology capability essential for our rapid growth across multiple geographies. We aim to implement cutting-edge technology that will significantly impact our business, maturing to become a trusted partner in delivering top-tier technology solutions.

Role Purpose

As the business expands and secures new contracts, there is a need to grow our supporting capabilities. The Head of Business Management will lead and develop the business management functions that support effective delivery, including overseeing the PMO, IT performance reporting, financial planning, and procurement partnerships. This role involves partnering with Finance, Commercial, and Procurement teams to ensure value-driven investments, proper governance, and strategic alignment. It also involves driving the people strategy alongside the CDIO and defining the overall IT operational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Business Management function, including PMO, IT, Commercial procurement, financial planning, communications, and performance reporting.
  • Establish and manage a high-performing PMO to oversee project governance and portfolio delivery.
  • Develop performance metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to support decision-making and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Finance for IT budgeting, forecasting, and controls.
  • Align vendor management and sourcing strategies with business needs, focusing on cost optimization.
  • Develop and implement the strategic operating model and roadmap for the function.
  • Ensure alignment of IT strategies with business outcomes through effective reporting and value measurement.
  • Champion process improvement, governance, and operational maturity.
  • Support executive reporting on IT performance and benefits realization.
  • Oversee risk management processes and controls.
  • Support audit requirements and develop governance forums.
  • Improve employee engagement and develop quality management systems.
  • Oversee projects to mature the function as directed by the CDIO.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience leading IT operations or PMO functions in complex, enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in IT financial management and vendor relationships.
  • Experience integrating risk management into developing functions.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans aligned with corporate goals.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies such as MSP, PRINCE2, Agile.
  • Exceptional stakeholder influence skills, especially with Finance, Procurement, and Commercial teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • Recognized project or program management qualification.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary from £90,000+ depending on experience
  • Bonus: Short-term incentive up to 20%
  • Benefits allowance: £8,500 for bespoke benefits
  • Pension: 12% employer, 6% employee contributions
