Location: Warrington, Derby, Manchester or Flexible Hybrid - UK based

Responsibilities:

  • Sit within the Reactor Island Component Structural Analysis team and work closely with the component design and layout teams to deliver stress analysis capability across the piping systems and pipe supporting elements within the SMR.
  • Deliver structural analysis to support a range of needs including assessments in accordance with ASME B31, ASME III including subsections NB, NC, ND and NF, and seismic requirements.
  • Provide support to supply chain partners in reviewing and advising analysis work performed in the supply chain.
  • Support may be required to undertake tasks to support the design of pipework systems or undertake 3D Finite Element Analysis, dependent on team demand and candidate experience.
  • Undertake design code assessments to industry and internationally recognised codes (ideally ASME B31 series, ASME III Div 1, NB, NC/ND and NF; experience with other codes is also applicable).
  • ASME Section III Class 1 Fatigue design experience is desirable.
  • Proficient user of pipe stress analysis programmes (ideally Autopipe and/or Abaqus); experience with other proprietary programs such as PepS, ADLPipe, CAESAR, PSA5 is beneficial.
  • Programme management including definition of project/programme of work, delivery of milestones in line with budgets and plans, management of supply chain, risk management and reporting.
  • Experience of other assessment types or methods such as pressure vessel or dynamic stress analysis is desirable but not a requirement.
  • Nuclear industry knowledge/experience; familiarity with safety case regimes and justification within a high-regulatory environment is beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered, or working towards, Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent).
  • Prior experience of undertaking pipe stress assessments.
  • Planning and organising skills to manage programme activities and deliverables.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with any audience, quickly establishing credibility and buy-in.

Pay And Benefits:

  • Salary: £43,000 – £56,438 plus:
  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance - £2200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions
