The Opportunity
We need you to support the successful delivery of major engineering programmes that will shape the future of energy in the UK and beyond. As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll work closely with a Programme Manager to manage projects across engineering, procurement, construction and regulatory environments, contributing to the development of a new nuclear power station. You’ll take ownership of defined project scopes while supporting the wider programme—giving you exposure to complex, high-value work and the chance to grow your career in project management.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver projects to agreed time, cost and quality targets
- Maintain and support project plans with input from Project Planners
- Manage and update financial forecasts in collaboration with Cost Engineers
- Monitor performance and provide clear, timely reporting to senior stakeholders
- Identify, manage and mitigate project risks and issues
- Build strong working relationships across technical and non-technical teams
- Support stakeholder meetings, including external partners where required
- Capture lessons learned and continuously improve how projects are delivered
- Ensure compliance with project management processes and governance standards
What We’re Looking For

- Project Management Experience
- Experience supporting or delivering complex engineering or infrastructure projects
- Understanding of planning, budgeting, risk and change management

- Exposure to engineering environments or technical projects
- Experience in regulated industries (or an interest in developing this) is beneficial
- Stakeholder & Communication Skills
- Confidence working with a range of stakeholders across different levels

Tools & Experience
You may have experience with (or be willing to learn):
- Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
- SAP, ARM or similar financial/project systems
- Excel, Power BI or Power Apps
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or relevant experience delivering engineering projects
- Project management qualification (e.g. APM PMQ) or equivalent experience
- Professional membership (desirable but not essential)
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £42,000 - £55,150
- £2,200 flexible benefits allowance
