Location: Warrington, Derby or Manchester, UK based hybrid

We are now recruiting for the exciting role ofResearch and Technology Engineer, to be involved in Rolls Royce SMR\’s research and technology programme, ensuring alignment between research efforts and company\’s strategic objectives in developing small modular reactor technology.

TheDevelopment Engineeringorganisation plays a critical role in ensuring that the Rolls-Royce SMR power station design meets its performance objectives and regulatory requirements. It is responsible for generating the data and evidence needed to support the design and delivery of the power station through rigorous testing, demonstrations, and research and technology programmes. This scope extends beyond nuclear engineering to include a broad spectrum of engineering and operational disciplines essential for delivering a major infrastructure project.

Key focus for the role:

  • Facilitation of working groups with key stakeholders across the business, focusing on technology themes such as manufacturing, hardware and components, and nuclear technology.
  • Initiate research and technology projects in accordance with Rolls-Royce SMR processes, write statements of work, and work with supply chain and commercial colleagues to launch projects.
  • Successful management of a number of research and technology projects, ensuring safe, on-time and on-budget delivery.

Training & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree in engineering, a natural science, or a related technical discipline.

Desirable:

  • MSc/PhD in a relevant field, preferably with research experience.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property and commercialisation practices.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
  • Automation (drones, robotics, etc.)
  • Additive manufacture
