At Rolls‑Royce SMR, our mission is simple: deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology provides a uniquely British solution to a global energy challenge — enabling secure, low‑carbon power for generations to come. We are leading the way in SMR deployment and are positioned to become the UK’s premier green export technology, shaping the future of sustainable energy worldwide.

You’ll join our Strategy & Business Development – Proposals team, a group that plays a critical role in helping the organisation win major programmes and long‑term partnerships. The team leads the creation of compelling proposals, working across engineering, commercial, regulatory, and project delivery functions to translate our SMR capability into solutions that meet customer needs. Your work will directly influence how we engage with governments, utilities, and future international customers — shaping business growth at a pivotal time.

As a Bid/Proposals Manager, you will be a driving force behind the high‑quality bids that support the adoption of Rolls‑Royce SMR technology. In this role, you will lead the development of compelling responses to RFIs, RFPs, and major bid submissions, ensuring we present innovative, credible, and competitive solutions. This is a key role in helping the business secure transformational programmes and accelerate our deployment across global markets.

We’ll need you to:

  • Lead the production of RFIs, RFPs and full bid submissions.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs from engineering, commercial, legal, project management and supply chain.
  • Translate complex customer requirements into clear, high‑quality proposal content.
  • Create bid narratives where the scope is less defined, shaping the customer value story.
  • Ensure bids meet governance, quality and assurance requirements.
  • Support stakeholder engagement throughout clarifications and customer interactions.
  • Take ownership of independent workstreams and proactively solve challenges as they arise.

In this role, your work directly influences multi‑million to multi‑billion‑pound opportunities, helping to secure the partnerships and projects that will ultimately bring SMR technology to life. You will ensure our customers receive clear, credible, and inspiring solutions — making you an integral part of Rolls‑Royce SMR’s success and global expansion.

What you will bring:

  • Experience in bid management within energy, major infrastructure, construction, or nuclear sectors.
  • Ability to apply best practice, professional judgement and structured problem‑solving to develop compelling responses.
  • Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Understanding of bid governance, process management and quality assurance.
  • A degree (engineering, business, project management or related field) — APMP desirable but not essential.

We anticipate a salary of £53,700.00 - £70,500.00 dependent on the skills, values, and knowledge you bring.

We also offer excellent benefits including:

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance - £2200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases

  • A flexible, inclusive, and supportive working environment.
  • Opportunities for career growth in a rapidly scaling business.
  • A culture that values diversity, innovation, and continuous learning.
