Our mission

Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge. We are in pole position to become a global leader in SMRs and the UK’s premier green export technology.

The team

Within Engineering, the CSA Installation & Modular Integration team plays a pivotal role in translating complex design into buildable, site-ready solutions. Operating at the heart of engineering integration, the team drives innovation across layout, constructability and modularisation to enable efficient, safe and repeatable deployment.

The role

In this context, we are looking for a Manager – Site-Specific Layout & Installations, reporting to the Senior Manager (Reactor Island Layout). Leading a team of circa six engineers, you will be accountable for delivering site-specific Reactor Island layouts derived from the Generic Design, supporting deployment in the UK and Czechia.

This is a highly visible, integration-focused role—owning the development of layout solutions that interpret country-specific regulatory requirements, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and ensure designs are optimised for constructability, safety and operational performance. You will play a key role in enabling licensing success while shaping scalable, repeatable design solutions across multiple sites.

What you’ll be delivering

  • Leading delivery of integrated, site-specific Reactor Island layouts, translating generic design intent into compliant, buildable solutions.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams across Structures, Systems, Components and Conventional Island to achieve fully integrated outcomes.
  • Owning configuration, requirements and variant management, ensuring robust governance and traceability of design evolution.
  • Managing the federated CAD model for Reactor Island and driving alignment with architecture, access, safety and zoning strategies.
  • Developing and owning delivery plans, managing risk and driving performance against cost, quality and schedule.
  • Building and leading a high-performing team, supporting capability growth, coaching and effective deployment of resource.

What you’ll bring

This is a pivotal, high-impact leadership role—you’ll bring technical credibility, systems thinking and delivery focus, along with the ability to align diverse stakeholders and drive clarity across complex engineering challenges.

Skills & experience

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with Chartered status (or working towards).
  • Experience delivering complex layout or installation design programmes, from concept through to detailed definition, within regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management (e.g. DOORS), configuration control and gated design review processes.
  • Experience leading engineering teams, integrating multidisciplinary inputs and managing technical and programme risk.
  • Awareness of nuclear or highly regulated industry standards, with exposure to international codes/regulations considered advantageous.

Location

We offer hybrid working with flexibility across Derby, Manchester or Warrington, with regular in-person collaboration expected. Occasional travel to UK offices, customer locations and international sites may be required.

What’s in it for you

  • We anticipate paying a salary of between £60,000-£78,750.
  • Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 7%.
  • Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package.
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care.
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay.
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases.
