Team: The Reactor Island Integration team designs the physical layout of the RR SMR Reactor Island, ensuring that mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems integrate seamlessly with our modular build philosophy. The team works across engineering functions to deliver safe, efficient and optimised layouts for this critical part of the power station.

Summary: We are seeking a Manager to lead the design and delivery of the Support and Outage Block mechanical layout for the Reactor Island. The role reports to the Senior Manager – Containment Layout & Installation and combines people leadership, technical integration and strategic planning within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Deliverables:

  • Deliver the Support & Outage Block mechanical layout, leading a team of Layout and Installation Engineers.
  • Recruit, manage and develop team members through coaching, training and performance support.
  • Define delivery strategy using inputs from Civils, Architecture, E3S, Human Factors, Systems, CAD, Operations, Build Certainty and Supply Chain.
  • Own the block‑level plan to ensure cost, schedule and quality delivery.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in mechanical integration, plant layout or installation design in complex engineering environments.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience building and developing engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Benefits & Compensation:

  • Salary £57,600–£75,600 DOE; 12.5% bonus; £2,200 benefit allowance; 12% employer pension; 28 days leave; BUPA cover; life assurance; £250 home‑office allowance.

Applicants must obtain BPSS clearance, complete a DBS check and pass a basic financial probity check.
