Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge, positioning Rolls‑Royce SMR at the forefront of transforming the future of low‑carbon energy. The Programme Management Directorate is central to turning our ambition into reality. Operating at the heart of major engineering and infrastructure programmes, the team leads delivery across complex projects, enabling innovation, collaboration and progress towards the deployment of next‑generation nuclear technology.
In this context, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of critical programme outcomes, reporting to a Programme Manager and leading a team of Project Managers. This is a high‑impact leadership role that will shape the successful delivery of projects underpinning the development of a new nuclear power station.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the delivery of multiple complex engineering, construction, procurement and regulatory projects within a wider programme environment
- Managing teams of Project Managers, ensuring effective prioritisation, resource allocation and delivery performance
- Driving project controls across schedule, budget, risk, quality and stakeholder management to achieve programme objectives
- Reporting progress, mitigating issues and embedding continuous improvement across projects and ways of working
As you can see, this is a pivotal leadership role within our programme delivery organisation, and you’ll bring strategic thinking, outstanding stakeholder management and the ability to inspire high‑performing teams in a complex environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in engineering, science, project management or a related discipline, and/or significant experience delivering large, complex projects and programmes
- A project management qualification such as APM PMQ or equivalent, or demonstrable experience leading major engineering projects
- Experience managing multiple work packages, budgets, risks and senior stakeholder relationships within complex delivery environments
- Knowledge of project management tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP, Excel, Power BI or Power Apps, alongside the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively
We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements and would expect you to regularly attend one of our Rolls‑Royce SMR locations as required, with occasional travel to support project and stakeholder delivery activities.

The salary range for this role is £60,000 - £78,750, dependent on the skills, knowledge and experience you bring. In addition, you’ll receive:
