Responsibilities
- Undertake structural analysis calculations and finite element analysis in line with relevant design standards (e.g. ASME), good practice and legislation.
- Support the Structural Analysis Managers with resource allocation, resolve complex issues and integrate technical solutions within other teams.
- Co‑ordinate the dynamic analysis of complex components and assemblies, covering dynamic FE, seismic, blast, impact and pipe whip, and develop methods to optimise approaches.
- Engage with and support the wider structural analysis team, nuclear equipment design teams, suppliers and all internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) with experience delivering analysis tasks for complex components or assemblies.
- Degree‑level or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven engineering analysis and assessment knowledge, preferably in structural FEA.
- Experience in hand calculations using software such as Mathcad or Excel.
- Project or programme management experience.
Background check: security and financial probity checks will be conducted.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary range: £53,800 – £63,500 per annum.
- Performance‑related bonus up to 12.5%.
- Benefits allowance of £2,200.
- Pension: 12% employer contribution and 6% employee contribution.
- 28 days holiday per year (plus public holidays) with the option to buy or sell up to 4 days.
- Family‑friendly policies: 39 weeks paid maternity, surrogacy and adoption leave; 6 weeks paid paternity leave; IVF and assisted conception support; neonatal care.

- Life assurance – 6 times pensionable pay (£250).
