Key Responsibilities
- Lead review, coordination and production of geotechnical designs (foundations, earthworks, retaining walls), reporting and specifications.
- Provide technical assurance and validation of safety‑critical designs, integrating generic and site‑specific solutions and reviewing programme‑wide deliverables.
- Manage scope, specification, supervision and interpretation of Ground Investigations and factual data.
- Support geotechnical design development on multi‑disciplinary projects, oversee external consultants and third‑party suppliers.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, working closely with interfacing disciplines (hazards, structural, civil, constructability) to deliver integrated design solutions.
Qualifications
- Background in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology, with demonstrable experience in the analysis and design of geotechnical and foundation solutions.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design interfaces and ability to demonstrate robustness and technical validity of solutions.
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent, or working towards chartership.
- Experience in the nuclear sector or other highly regulated environments involving safety‑critical infrastructure (desirable).
Preferred Attributes
- Experience of working on large infrastructure projects in the UK.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to site.

Skills & experience:
- Delivery of geotechnical design and ground investigations on large‑scale infrastructure projects, resolving complex technical challenges, strong knowledge of geotechnical analysis, foundation design, earthworks, retaining structures and relevant standards (Eurocode7).
- Experience in multidisciplinary environments, contributing to integrated design and embedding health and safety considerations (CDM2015).
Working Style
Flexible working; regular attendance at a UK office required to support programme delivery, governance and stakeholder engagement.
Benefits & Pay
- Pay: £50,650 – £66,500.
- Bonus: Performance related target opportunity 7%.
- Allowance: £2,200 per annum.
- Pension: 12% employer, 6% employee.
- Holidays: 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) with option to buy or sell up to 4 days.
