Role:
Senior Engineering Manager - Site Specific Design
Location: Hybrid working with one of the following locations as primary: Derby, Warrington or Manchester
Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge. We are in pole position to become a world leader in SMRs and the UK's premier green export technology. The Engineering - CSA Installation & Modular Integration team sits at the centre of power station delivery, bringing together multidisciplinary expertise to develop integrated, deployable designs. The team plays a critical role in ensuring our SMR technology can be adapted and deployed successfully across a range of customer sites and international programmes. In this context, we are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager - Site Specific Design to report to the Chief Integration Engineer and lead a multidisciplinary matrix team of circa 20+ engineers, partners and specialists. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for delivering site-specific power station designs that will support the successful deployment of Rolls-Royce SMRs around the world.
Responsibilities
- Providing strategic engineering leadership for the development and delivery of site-specific RR SMR power station designs.
- Building and leading multidisciplinary teams comprising internal engineers, secondees, suppliers and delivery partners to deliver complex engineering programmes safely and successfully.
- Directing engineering activities across systems, structures and components throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with programme, regulatory and customer requirements.
- Managing engineering delivery against key programme milestones, budgets and performance objectives, whilst maintaining clear oversight of risks, opportunities and resource requirements.
- Owning the integration of site-specific requirements with the generic Rolls-Royce SMR design, ensuring robust configuration control and requirements management.
- Leading the assessment and implementation of physical adaptation and variant requirements across different sites, regions and customer applications.
- Collaborating with project management, supply chain, operations, construction and business development teams to ensure engineering solutions are practical, deliverable and commercially viable.
- Representing the engineering function with customers, regulators, partners and key stakeholders, supporting site development, licensing, environmental approvals and broader programme activities.
- Supporting the Chief Integration Engineer in monitoring compliance with critical power station objectives, including safety, constructability, schedule, cost and performance targets.
