Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge, and we are building world‑class technology to accelerate a low‑carbon future. Join a programme at the forefront of UK green innovation.
Our Digital, Data & AI function is shaping the intelligence layer that underpins RR‑SMR’s engineering, safety, and programme delivery. We design secure digital products that strengthen certainty, accelerate schedules, and unlock the value of our enterprise data through cutting‑edge AI capabilities.
We’re looking for a Full Stack AI Engineer to design, ship, and run secure AI products on our Azure platform accelerating RR‑SMR’s Digital Thread, DaaS, and AI ambitions. You’ll work in product squads with domain experts, owning features end‑to‑end and measuring impact against our roadmap value drivers: build certainty, schedule optimisation, safety, security, and compliance. Experience with Azure OpenAI/Azure ML, RAG, and modern web stacks is key.
We’ll need you to:
- Design, build and operate full‑stack, cloud‑native AI products on Azure, integrating securely with enterprise systems.
- Develop retrieval‑augmented and tool‑enabled AI agents with strong governance, auditability and content‑safety controls.
- Implement MLOps and AIOps practices, including evaluation, monitoring, lineage and Infrastructure‑as‑Code automation.
- Embed safety, security and compliant delivery across all work, including correct data handling and documentation.
As you can see, this is a pivotal role, and you’ll bring a collaborative mindset, systems thinking and first‑class engineering craft to help shape our AI future.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Full‑stack engineering in production (3+ years): modern front end (e.g., React/TypeScript), back end (Python/FastAPI/Node), and API design.
- AI/ML engineering: building RAG/agentic systems, vector search, prompt orchestration, evaluation, and safety patterns.
- Cloud & platform: Azure (Azure ML, Azure OpenAI, Functions/AKS), data services, identity & access controls; CI/CD (GitHub or Azure DevOps).
- Data engineering fluency: pipelines, eventing, schema design, governance, and observability for AI features.
- Software quality & operability: testing (unit/integration), performance, telemetry, SLOs, and on‑call participation.
- Experience delivering in regulated or safety‑conscious environments with strong documentation discipline.
What’s in it for you?
We anticipate a salary of ÂŁ42,000 - ÂŁ55,150 dependent on the skills, values, and knowledge you bring. We also offer excellent benefits including:
- Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
- Benefits Allowance - ÂŁ2200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
