The Head of Information Management will lead the evolution and execution of the organisation’s enterprise-wide information management strategy, ensuring that data and information assets are governed, structured, and secured in line with regulatory, legislative, and nuclear industry standards. Working closely with the CISO and other key stakeholders, the role will build on and develop the information management programme that underpins secure, compliant, and value-driven information practices across the business. This includes the evolution of arrangements with core partners and customers, enshrining compliance and commercial objectives; the maintenance of process and policy suites to provide ongoing, relevant structure to shape wider data and digital activities and initiatives across the organisation; as well as the development of a structured assurance programme to embed new and existing practices while providing active confidence to key stakeholders of the organisation’s progress in information maturity. The role is responsible for: Accountable on behalf of the CDIO on overseeing the company direction on information by working with multiple business areas to ensure information is managed and owned by the business and can be used for value in the organisation. The role holder will work with the CISO, delivery Heads and other key business stakeholders in defining, owning and delivering the strategy on information

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead the enterprise-wide information management vision, strategy, aligned with cyber security, compliance, and business objectives
  • Oversee and manage the information and data process for the organisation
  • Drive a programme of change/training that embeds secure information practices throughout the organisation’s culture, technology, and operations
  • Manage and own the development of the company IMS data/information related processes
  • Champion the value of information as a corporate asset and support digital transformation programmes with strong data governance principles.
  • Oversee and support the management of information between the company and its core partner and customer organisation.
  • Maintain a holistic view of all information-related activity and initiatives in the organisation.
  • Provide conflict resolution and a mechanism for pragmatic decision making in key digital areas.

Policy and Governance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain information and data policies, standards, and procedures aligned with regulatory (e.g. GDPR, NIS2), legal, and nuclear sector-specific obligations in alignment with architectural and data teams.
  • Lead business-wide Information Management Group to ensure cross-functional alignment and oversight.
  • Ensure data classification, labelling, and handling policies are up to date and operationally effective.
  • Manage information risk management for the CDIO.

Compliance and Industry Alignment

  • ONR Security Assessment Principles (SyAPs)
  • ISO/IEC 27001 and 27701
  • IAEA nuclear information guidance
  • Data Protection Act 2018 / UK GDPR / EU AI Act
  • Collaborate with Legal, IT, and Compliance to manage data-related regulatory risks
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections relating to information management and cyber security
  • Act as sponsor for information related non-conformance / compliance remediation.

Programme Delivery

  • Lead and evolve the multi-year information management programme, including risk assessment, remediation, controls implementation and how we exchange data with our partners/customers/suppliers/shareholders
  • Define and track KPIs for information management maturity and assurance
  • Manage vendor relationships and solution implementation related to document management, data discovery, and classification tools

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management

  • Work with business unit leaders, IT, and project managers to ensure that information principles are embedded into new projects and systems
  • Lead training and awareness campaigns related to information governance, policy, and compliance
  • Act as the senior point of contact for all enterprise-wide information management concerns

What we’re looking for

  • Ability to demonstrate tangible examples of setting a strategy, governing and managing Information Management frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Can demonstrate creation of strategies and plans for Information Management
  • Able to partner with business and drive outcomes
  • Able to establish programmes of work to deliver the strategy
  • Can provide clear experience in managing business relationships, get teams to deliver when not in direct control of the resource
  • Excellent communicator at all levels and using multiple methods.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to proactively eliminate problems and ease the path to delivery of delightful user experiences.
  • Ability to rationalise complex information (both high level and detailed level) to make it understandable for others to work with.
  • Conveys information and ideas clearly, accurately, and persuasively.
  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Recognised and related qualifications/training in Information Management/privacy/security

Location & Ways of Working

This role can be based in Derby, Manchester or Warrington, with flexibility to work between home and the office depending on business needs. There may be some international travel required on an ad hoc basis.

Reward & Benefits

  • Salary Range: £85,600 - £114,400
  • Bonus: Up to 20% plus 15% long term incentive cash plan
  • Benefits allowance: £8,500
  • Pension: Standard Rolls-Royce SMR pension 12%
  • Holiday: 28 days plus bank holidays

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a competency-based interview and may be asked to provide evidence of document management capability. This role requires BPSS checks as part of our onboarding process.

Pay Range

£85,600.00 - £112,350.00
