At Rolls‑Royce SMR, we’re shaping the future of clean energy. We’re looking for an Environment Technical Advisor / Specialist with experience of delivering BAT assessments to help us design and deliver a next‑generation nuclear technology that protects both people and the environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to environmental assessments that support design justification and regulatory submissions.
- Support the development of BAT cases for design and site‑specific variations.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure environmental considerations are embedded in design decisions.
- Participate in optioneering and HAZOP workshops to influence safe and sustainable design outcomes.
- Provide expert advice on environmental protection and regulatory requirements.
- Represent the project in technical reviews and engage with external stakeholders, including regulators.
- Support training and capability development across environmental topics.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Chartered status, or you’re working towards it.
- Experience within the UK environmental regulatory framework (ideally nuclear or highly regulated industries).
- Strong experience producing BAT assessments or environmental safety cases.
- Confidence working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence a range of stakeholders.
It would be great if you also have:
- Knowledge of nuclear plant design (e.g. PWR).
- Experience supporting Environmental Impact Assessments or permitting.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: £50,650 - £66,500
