The project accountant will work closely with the Finance Manager and Powerfield management team to provide targeted support for budget, forecasting, actual reporting and strategic planning initiatives. This support role will help business leaders in maintaining and enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness and performance of the business. Their analysis and commentary of the financial standing of the business, paired with strong IT skills, will help enable quick and informed decision making, helping to drive and protect EBIT as well as relevant Cash/NWC items.
Responsibilities- Drive business value by offering targeted financial and analytical reporting to assist in decision‑making processes.
- Support the local Finance Manager in producing management and statutory accounts.
- Provide additional management accounting support to businesses within the RR Solutions UK legal entity.
- Help to hold the individual stakeholders accountable with active involvement in the key projects of the business.
- Continuously track/manage business risks and opportunities.
- Seek to continuously improve financial processes and increase the transparency and quality of financial information.
- Be flexible and able to manage tight deadlines, have a hands‑on mentality and handle confidential topics with care.
- Extensive and proven ability to work in various functions of management and statutory accounting.
- Good knowledge of project accounting with experience in supporting contract trading and governmental long‑term projects.
- Experience working in a business with full P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash responsibility.
- Financial qualification with a minimum of 3 years PQE.
- Some experience in ERP implementations with the ability to lead the finance workstream.
- Possesses strong cross‑functional thinking, interpersonal and negotiation skills to work effectively within a business team.
- Able to set and manage own priorities and to manage simultaneous deliverables.
- Hands‑on experience of financial accounting, for example Monthly Closing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash management.
- Excellent IT skills, for example Oracle Hyperion, Business Intelligence and SAP.
- Strong background in MOD accounting and a manufacturing or repair & overhaul business.
- Flexible to travel within the UK.
