Reporting to the Service Supervisor for the PowerGen Business Unit and responsible for the day to day planned preventative maintenance services, unplanned reactive maintenance services and scheduled repairs including replacement, upgrades or additional works on our MTU Kinetic Power Packs (Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems) and Diesel Generators. You will travel around the UK in your company provided vehicle carrying out a mixture of scheduled service work and reactive work which may involve overnight stays, so a flexible approach to working patterns is required. There is also a requirement to provide 365/24/7 emergency on call coverage as part of the Field Service Engineers on call rota. The Field Service Engineer job is home based however the engineer may be required to work in the offices / workshops in East Grinstead when not in the field. The job is physically demanding and requires a disciplined individual who is capable of delivering / communicating the high standards expected of a blue chip company.
What you will be doing:
- Comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation applicable to the role.
- Use diagnostic tools and procedures and identify faults which can be communicated to the customer.
- Provide 365/24/7 emergency on call coverage as part of the Field Service Engineers call out rota.
- Compile Technical Reports on completion of each job detailing the work undertaken and the reasons why.
- Carry out service, repairs and commissioning for: Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems, Diesel Engines and their Ancillaries and Controls Systems.
- Assist and support the Project Manager on the installation, commissioning and testing of new Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems, Diesel Generator Systems and associated balance of plant equipment.
- Build and develop strong professional relationships with all client stakeholders and suppliers in order to successfully carry out your duties.
Position Qualifications:
- Significant field work experience.
- Appropriate qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar relevant qualification or demonstrable industry experience.
- Knowledge of power generation industry, preferably with field installation and service experience in the UK and overseas territories of Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems, Static UPS, Diesel or Gas Genset products, applications and associated ancillary systems to form a complete turnkey solution in LV and MV.
- Experience on Control Systems preferred.
- Ability to understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
Preferred requirements:
- Willingness to work away from home during the week and be prepared to travel extensively within the UK, Ireland and overseas.
