Why Rolls-Royce? We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Lead to work within Rolls‑Royce Power Systems (RRPS) in Bristol or Heybridge. As part of NauitIQ Solutions team, they will be focusing on delivering electrical, automation and autonomy products to our Naval and Commercial Marine customers. The business is organised as two Product Centres in Bristol and Heybridge with shared support resources provided from teams in East Grinstead; we operate an integrated programme delivery team across the Bristol and Heybridge sites. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, a minimum of three days per week.

What You Will Be Doing: As Programme Controller you will take responsibility for the control and delivery of smaller, lower complexity programmes or aspects of project portfolios. Monitor, review and report the status of programme/project portfolios in accordance with the requirements defined in the Project Management Plan and agreed with the Project Sponsor and Project Manager. Effective delivery of smaller, lower complexity programmes or aspects of project portfolios. Report the status of programmes/project portfolios in accordance with the requirements of the project. Manage and report variances to project baseline and report programme Key Performance Indicators. Review programme data, identify and report trends, highlight anomalies and propose corrective action if performance is outside specification. Ensure effective controls are implemented in accordance with the company management procedures to achieve the programme success criteria. Accurate reporting to relevant stakeholders in accordance with the defined timescales. Facilitate and manage risk and opportunity activities.

Specifically, a Programme Controller must:

  • Degree level qualification preferable or equivalent industry experience.
  • Member of a professional body and working towards a APM PMQ qualification or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year experience in a relevant discipline, preferably on programme/project work.
  • Working towards APM PMQ/PMI qualification or equivalent (or assessed as possessing equivalent knowledge/experience to the same standard).
  • Experience in the development and/or implementation of project management processes and lifecycle, and a good knowledge of the project control processes.

Rolls‑Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work. As part of our selection process, candidates in certain locations may be asked to complete an online assessment, which can include cognitive and behavioural aptitude testing relevant to the role.
