As a Mechanical/Electrical Fitter, you'll play a key part in delivering essential maintenance and repair services across our Rail, Switchboard manufacture and diesel-powered generation systems. You'll benefit from being part of a supportive team, hands-on training, and opportunities to broaden your skill set across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
What you will be doing:
- Mechanically assemble switchboards for a major programme
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, test and reassemble mechanical and electrical assemblies to strict standards
- Work with diesel power rail power packs
- Collaborate with team leads to ensure quality, delivery, and cost expectations are met
- Maintain high standards of safety, documentation, and shop floor efficiency
Position Qualifications:
- Have completed a recognised mechanical or electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent experience)
- Bring experience working on diesel engines or electrical systems in a service or MRO environment
- Be comfortable working independently and as part of a close-knit, goal-focused team
- Show good communication and documentation skills in a regulated environment
- Demonstrate a hands-on, proactive approach with strong attention to detail
Preferred requirements:
- You must demonstrate an ability to work within a team orientated environment and collaborate across multiple functions
- Good interpersonal skills and good communication is essential in addition to working in a systematic and structured manner
- A level of overtime working would be required to assist in the management of peak capacity loadings and customer demands
