Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a global team of procurement category managers and strategic buyers.
- Ensure a high volume of tasks is prioritised and managed, and individual development plans are in place for category‑specific skills as part of the broader functional strategic workforce plan.
- Plan and develop sourcing and commercial strategies, maximizing the value proposition.
- Guide the category team in development of category strategies, and ensure alignment and integration with the wider business.
- Nurture effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Provide oversight of large strategic supplier accounts across the category, balancing cost with service level and quality.
- Develop and negotiate complex strategic long‑term supplier contracts and approve sourcing decisions.
- Stay abreast of market conditions and trends through relationships with suppliers and market experts to inform strategy and ensure supply continuity.
- Deliver long‑term cost improvement in all relevant activities in line with business plans, including leveraging cost reductions across category‑group strategic spend commodities/categories, and mitigating arising cost headwinds.
- Direct spend within category/value stream and set, communicate and ensure delivery of cost plans, while delivering a sustainable supply chain, contributing to overall global procurement targets.
- Cross‑divisional category knowledge collaboration and leverage opportunity identification.
- Lead the team's compliance to company policies, processes and procedures, ensuring all purchasing records and documentation are correct and maintained in line with regulatory requirements.

- Managed high‑value commercial negotiations and long‑term supplier partnerships with regulated industries such as aerospace or defence.

- Directed procurement transformation initiatives including category strategy, digital procurement systems, lean processes and continuous improvement programmes.
- Influenced executive stakeholders cross‑functionally, leading large procurement teams while aligning sourcing strategy with operational, financial and business objectives.
