An excellent opportunity has arisen at our Devonport Site as SSBN JRT Manager. In this role you will lead the SSBN Joint Reactor Team (JRT), providing leadership, direction and engineering oversight to support Babcock in the successful delivery of the reactor maintenance schedule.
Working collaboratively across the wider organisation, Rolls‐Royce, the Ministry of Defence and the Submarine Enterprise, the role develops a high-performing team, drives maintenance optimisation and continuous improvement, and ensures engineering activities support safe, effective and timely programme delivery. To own and deliver technical projects to satisfy requirements.
As the SSBN JRT Manager you will provide dedicated leadership and management of the SSBN Joint Reactor Team and will strengthen leadership capability, stakeholder engagement and programme delivery, supporting improved submarine availability and business performance.
What you will be doing:
- Act as a prime Engineering and Programme interface on behalf of the overall Project for the relevant package of work.
- Manage the safety aspects of any solution.
- Be the prime Customer technical interface for the relevant project.
- To manage and deliver the project technical solution, defined in the statement of work in accordance with Project policy.
- Provide Programme and Technical leadership and support to the project team and comply with the Engineers Function's policies throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Maintain a programme to ensure that all activities are fully compliant with the company quality system.
- Develop and communicate the plan and budget for delivering the work on time, and manage all costs and resources to ensure delivery of the plan.
- Implement effective technical Risk Management and ensure appropriate Project Gated Review Processes for the package, and apply HS&E policy including a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ensure appropriate resources are deployed, directed and co-ordinated.
Position Qualifications:
- Experience in leading an Engineering team.
- Qualified to at least degree level.
- Domain knowledge commensurate with focus and size of package.
- Understanding of Product Change control including PCB (Product Change Board) and DDRAM (Design Definition Review and Audit Meeting) and Product Introduction Lifecycle Management experience.
- Project Management experience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules.
- Engineering and technical competence, sufficient to enable decision making commensurate with size of package.
- Experience applying Systems approach or equivalent (Robust Design lead, Black belt, etc.).
To work for Rolls‐Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls‐Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
