Within the Civil Aerospace there is a vacancy for a MRO Facilities & Equipment Manufacturing/Capability Acquisition Engineer. This is an exciting role that is newly established to support and drive the strategic and commercial expansion of our Aftermarket MRO business, covering both Engine Overhaul and Component Repair Facilities from a technical perspective.
As an Engineering Work Stream lead, you will be responsible for providing initial technical support and guidance for the design, creation and equipping of a world class engine overhaul or component repair facility in line with company strategy. You will act as a Rolls-Royce Engineering liaison working closely with an assigned Project Manager (Engineering Subject Matter Experts or owners in addition to other Works Stream lead’s) to ensure that the supplier/vendor or Airline Customer correctly embed suitable infrastructure to support and maintain the MRO Engineering requirements contained within the Rolls-Royce Care Engine Manuals, therefore ensuring the facility integrates and deploys controlled processes and/or methods, which are fully capable of meeting and maintaining airworthiness authorities & RR requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate & Leadtime (SQCD).

What you will be doing:
- Responsible for delivering technical support to ensure MRO facilities (both existing and new)
are fully capable of overhauling new engine types in line with company strategy. - Liaise with Business Project Managers + Business Strategy & Marketing teams, to provide ROM estimates on facility footprint + budgetary cost data for machinery & process equipment/systems, required to enable initial business case development.
- Be able as required to provide in country process capability gap analysis reviews of potential new customer/supplier facilities, aligned to the Method Of Manufacture requirements contained within specific Rolls-Royce Care Engine Manuals.
- Provide support to Global Commodity Managers and their Strategic Buyers as part of a cross functional team via the External Supply Chain Capability Assessment (ESCCA) Process.
- Maintain and develop engine/component characteristic matrix support tools to enable quick response to customer queries.
- Develop complete high-level facility designs for multiple engine types, using RRPS Factory
Design & Layout (FD&L) principles and discrete simulation modelling tools. - Responsible for liaising with external Joint Ventures and Approved Maintenance Centre’s to design and build factories which enable the full Engine Overhaul and return into service using both Mechanical/Manufacturing and Civil Engineering knowledge, procedures and methods.
- Become the Team/Local Subject Mater Expert on at least two of the process or procedures which we use daily, supporting and sharing this knowledge with your other team members.

- Knowledge and user Experience of RRPS Technical & Management Modules. (or equivalent Performance Production system)
- Previous Experience as WBS lead for the Engineering aspects of the Factory Design & Layout process.
- Familiar with the relevant Health, Safety and Environmental law and regulations.
- Proficiency in management system standards & requirements such as FAIr (AS9102), MVA, SABRe ,NADCAP etc.
- High level understanding of the design, structure and functional characteristics of the Gas Turbine Engine.
- High level understanding of the physical & technical processes, equipment and machinery required during Dis-assembly and Re-assembly of both the Engine and Modules associated with the Rolls-Royce TRENT engine families.
- High level understanding of the physical & technical processes, equipment and machinery required during Component cleaning, Inspection & Repair of components associated with the Rolls-Royce TRENT engine family.
- High level proficient user of RR Care technical manuals and engineering technical documents/systems EMP/PLM/TDMS/OMSD’s (or equivalent Aerospace systems controls/documents).
- Ability to formulate technical guides and reports to aid in the creation and equipping of a Civil Large Engine Facility.
- Experienced user of AutoCAD products.
- Can understand technical instructions/data and transfer this into a Process or Machine Tool specification (Statement of Requirements).
- Previous experience of working with Machine Tool OEM’s on equipment Acceptance testing, Installation and Commissioning process such as; foundation’s, lifting plans, compliance testing, CE marking and other HS&E requirements.
- Rapid problem diagnosis and development of technical resolution – being able to apply practical solutions to technical problems
- Good communication and team working skills with an ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal network and influencing skills to customer and external organisations.
- An ability to work in an environment with flexible and challenging deadlines with limited technical support or backup.
- Be an effective engineer who has demonstrated the ability to solve problems quickly in a complex engineering environment.
- Finally, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of solid technical decision making as well as an excellent interpersonal skillset.
- Requirement to travel to global destinations (project dependent) circa four times per year.
