Title: Head of Customs (Global Oversight) – Washington or Derby.

Hybrid – minimum 3 days on site.

Full Time.

We invite an experienced customs and trade leader to join the Tax and Customs Group, reporting to the Director of Group Financial Control and Tax.

Responsibilities revolve around managing import/export activities for over 150,000 declarations annually and £28bn in product movements.

The incumbent will shape and lead customs strategy to optimise and digitise compliance functions across key global sites in the US, Germany, Singapore, France, India and the UK.

Responsibilities

Leadership: Model behaviours and expectations, manage UK manage performance and relationships with customs broker partners.

Qualifications Degree level qualification or equivalent.

Established background in customs within industry, government or practice.

Experience business partnering and managing relationships with tax authorities.

Hands‑on experience managing declarations and customs regimes (AEO, IP).

In‑depth knowledge of customs classification, valuation, origin rules, frontier clearance and relief mechanisms.

Working knowledge of SAP ERP and/or self‑filing customs tools.

Experience with process automation or digital transformation.

Strong IT skills, data consolidation, analytical competence and report generation.

Track record of delivering change management, business process and data system developments.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change, harmonise processes and encourage knowledge sharing.

Effective communicator, comfortable influencing at all levels, confident working cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment.
