An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Component Engineering Group Lead, leading the Vessels and Installations (V&I) and Pumps and Valves design teams within the Glasgow Office.
As the Component Engineering Group Lead, you will be responsible for the delivery of the teamโs work, to time, cost, quality and in line with the relevant Rolls-Royce processes. Using your knowledge and expertise in component design to mentor and develop the team to enable growth in technical capability in the Glasgow Office.

What you will be doing:- Defining and delivering robust verification, Safety Justification and technical outputs, checking own and others design solutions for technical completeness and correctness.
- Responsible for planning, project managing and delivering technical packages/investigations in line with programme milestones within agreed cost, timescale and quality requirements, including managing inputs from specialist areas and integrating activities to achieve the defined requirements.
- Leading the resolution and recovery from emergent issues.
- Developing and pro-actively assessing internal and external resource, contributing and supporting their capability development in line with business need.
- Creating and promoting a compliance culture within your team. Ensuring team members understand and are compliant with company policies, procedures and standards (including the RRMS) and in an ethical manner.
- Ensuring team members understand and maintain a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement. Encouraging teams to innovate and challenge the status quo whilst maintaining high standards of process compliance and product safety.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who is/has:
- Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
- An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
- Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification.
- Experience as design engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activities supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance/refit activities and dealing with operational issues.
- Experience of managing work packages and people.
- Experience in the development of methods, standards and processes.
- Chartered status or other similar accreditation.
