Role is part of the Clyde Innovation Cell (CIC) to improve submarine availability and to act as the technical authority for the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) of the UK submarine fleet on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the CIC team of Rolls‑Royce engineers and partner organisations (MOD, Babcock Marine, BAE).
  • Own the delivery of maintenance on all ships’ systems, including the upkeep of the NSRP.
  • Act independently to manage improvement issues in concert with multiple agencies.
  • Track record of achievement in work associated with the NSRP and demonstrate strong people‑management and influence skills.
  • Drive for results, demonstrate creativity in problem solving, manage ambiguity and plan and organise work efficiently.
  • Challenge processes and implement new knowledge/methods to deliver maintenance requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Detailed knowledge of submarine propulsion systems, NSRP and ship systems.
  • Experience or understanding of In‑service Submarines (ISM) and Design Authorities (DA) structure.
  • Multiple stakeholder management skills (internal/external). Ability to define vague requirements with good communication.
  • Proven people‑management and development of new capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of how a naval base operates and familiarity with key organisations delivering the key activities.

Eligibility & Security Requirements

  • Candidate must be a UK national or, in MoD‑approved cases, a dual national.
  • Applicant must hold a Security Check clearance; application for clearance is supported by the company.
  • Position level is C (Engineering for Services).
