Role Overview: Contract Manager – Governmental (Naval) (East Grinstead, Full time, Permanent). Reporting to the Vice President – Marine & Governmental Business Unit and the Senior Programme Manager Governmental (Naval). The role includes full responsibility for all aspects of contract management, ensuring delivery on time, quality, cost and in line with Defence Standards and Rolls‐Royce guiding principles.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and operate Project Governance, Reporting (including planning), Risk & Opportunity Analysis, Dispute Resolution, Finance (cost control, commercial topics), Change Management and subcontractor management.
- Promote a zero‐harm culture and meet all HSQE requirements.
- Provide first‐class customer liaison and fulfil all reasonable customer requests.
- Maintain project targets and deliverables.
- Provide commercial (costing, contractual, legal) and technical (mechanical, electrical, controls, civils) expertise.
- Identify and engage finance, commercial, commodity management, safety, environmental, technical and QA personnel as SMEs to support contract activities.
- Define, conduct, place and manage sub‐contracts and provide commercial and technical reports to the management team.
- Liaise with internal and parent company departments and participate in departmental activities.
- Develop, coach, train, support and communicate with colleagues to meet project-specific targets.
- Attend customer sites for meetings to ensure deliverables, specification compliance and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver detailed contractual and technical specification documents and assist with preparing detailed project plans and designs covering legal, commercial, mechanical, electrical and controls solutions.
- Participate in the delivery of technical and commercial risk analysis and develop plans as necessary.
- Recommend preferred suppliers and subcontractors following commercial and technical evaluation of proposals.
- Provide detailed instruction to contractors and suppliers and interact with suppliers to ensure technical suitability, value for money and on-time delivery.
- Assume project P&L responsibility where applicable.
- Provide technical assistance to customers, operators and RRS Sales & Service departments.
- Undertake special duties and projects as required.
- Travel within the UK & ROI and overseas as required.
- Conduct high-level data analysis and manage end-to-end processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Appropriate qualifications in Project and/or Programme Management or equivalent industry experience.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Strong background in high‐level data analysis and end‐to‐end processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Computer literate with good keyboard skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications.
- On‐the‐job training for SAP and RRS business‐specific systems.
- Full and clean driving licence; UK passport holder.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
