We need an experienced, confident, self-motivated and empowered Communications Lead - Infrastructure to support the business with external messaging and internal engagement priorities as the business delivers its critical infrastructure expansion work. The successful candidate will be an experienced communications professional who is able to contribute to the business beyond their functional role.

What you will be doing

  • Design, create and deliver integrated communications campaigns that support the Rolls-Royce Submarines Infrastructure programmes from start to finish.
  • Proactive external media engagement around site Infrastructure activity.
  • Engage with internal colleagues around site activity to manage disruption and reinforce future vision.
  • Work alongside contractor and partner communications teams to ensure awareness and engagement across embedded contractors.
  • External reactive crisis comms, including collaboration with MOD, Defence and Group Comms on external messaging.
  • Manage relationship with local media, businesses and residents.
  • Support communications and engagement activity across Infrastructure business unit.
  • Additional support for Supply Chain and New Build teams.
  • Feed into Group social media channels with site expansion content.

  • Media relations experience.
  • Excellent at building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships both externally with media contacts and MoD and internally across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong writing skills, with broad experience of drafting press materials, developing engagement campaigns and accessing/launching new channels internally.
  • Experience creating and executing short, medium, and long-term communications and media relations plans.
  • A high level of exposure of using digital and other media outlets.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
