The Business Modelling & Pricing team provide support to Defence engine programmes, across all phases of the product life cycle. Key players in winning new business by pricing the opportunity, liaising with customers and supporting the negotiation and all activity leading up to contract signature. Market conditions mean having accurate cost forecasts are essential for offering affordable value for money solutions. The Business Modelling & Pricing team must meet this requirement whilst protecting Rolls-Royce margin and identifying areas for improvement. The team also play a significant role in review of existing contracts. They work across multiple functions to understand issues, threats and opportunities that may have financial impact. The work undertaken in support of Won-Business contracts establishes the contract margins which are used in plc financial reports, identifying methods in which to improve the returns further. This is a role that will develop a broad business knowledge, which could lead to growth opportunities in the future.

What you will be doing
  • Produce price proposals for new contracts, working with more experienced colleagues to become involved in price negotiations with the customer and auditors.
  • Construct inputs to business models and provide expertise for the wider organisation on business modelling.
  • Work with the customer, sales and programme teams to identify requirements.
  • Support the development of a cost forecast across multiple functions (e.g. Commercial, Customer Business, Services Capability teams) for win/won business.
  • Understand the impact of workshare agreements, partnerships and the ability of Rolls-Royce to share risk and optimise revenue.
  • Provide risk expertise and support Long Term Contract reviews to ascertain profit on contracts, obtaining information from multiple functions and coordinating the information to forecast future profit.

  • Numerical, logical, able to work with large amounts of data, particularly using MS Excel, SAP, @Risk.
  • The successful candidate will require the appetite for technical understanding coupled with a desire to inform and lead the business.
  • No specific academic qualifications are required, but a business degree is an advantage.
  • The successful candidate will be eager to use their experience to continuously improve and develop the wider team.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
