An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join the Rolls-Royce Defence team in Bristol as a Commercial Manager. Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount. We develop and deliver complex power and propulsion solutions for safety-critical applications in the air, at sea and on land.

As a Commercial team we empower people to win and deliver better business. You will be able to build relationships and influence across the organisation. You’ll have an aptitude for understanding the business and how to shape our commercial deals to make sure we balance risk and reward across a culturally diverse range of customers.

We are seeking individuals who possess analytical skills, can exercise sound business judgement, are articulate and confident dealing with ambiguity. If you demonstrate these skills and a willingness to learn, we can provide the necessary training to enable you to fulfil the role.

  • Develop solutions for complex commercial issues.
  • Draft and negotiate contract terms with customers using appropriate techniques and strategies.
  • Develop and implement contracting and negotiation strategies for new business using relevant processes and procedures.
  • Empower Capture Teams to win by providing accurate, timely and innovative contractual solutions.
  • Identify potential risks and liabilities in concepts, proposals and contracts and implement appropriate means to manage these.
  • Instruct and administer new and existing business agreements providing trusted advice and guidance to ensure understanding of Rolls-Royce and customer obligations and contract points.
  • Lead activities and support others in the team with your supportive coaching style.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Sound business and commercial acumen including the ability to interpret commercial issues and understand the commercial components of deals and how to influence them.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate well in a team environment, building relationships across the business and working collaboratively with other business areas and corporate functions.
  • Previous commercial and contracting experience including responsibility for managing a substantive customer/supplier/partner relationship would be advantageous.
