The Role

All Rolls‑Royce Motor Cars feature the highest standards of craftsmanship in assembly manufacture, interior trim, and surface finishing. The range of interior materials and finishes in our customers’ cars comes with a large range of onsite manufacturing processes and machinery. As Production Maintenance, we support all of these technologies and their respective equipment. Sustainability and our impact on the environment are key priorities, alongside continuously pushing the boundaries of innovation. Working with a variety of equipment and systems gives a wide range of skills and experience, with the work changing from day to day, providing new challenges and opportunities to learn.

You will complete training in college, as well as on site. This is where you learn from our team of experts on the following topics:

  • Machine maintenance and breakdown response
  • Mechanical, electrical and robotic systems
  • Fabrication and machining
  • Use of hand and power tools for maintenance, adjustments, and repairs
  • Fault finding and repair – use of manuals and technical drawings

We have an exciting site expansion underway that will bring major changes of new equipment and machinery. As a department, we will be supporting with design specification, installation and ongoing maintenance of the equipment.

Craft Skills

Car design and creation at Rolls‑Royce Motor Cars is like nothing else in the industry. The apprenticeship features a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience of all aspects of car design and creation. You will spend 2 days per week (in the first term) completing a ‘craft skills’ course which includes woodwork, sewing, mechanics, metal work and CAD. During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications: Health and Safety, Preparing to Learn, Reflective Practice, and Electrical Vehicle Awareness.

The ability to listen and absorb information is essential. We need someone who is self-driven who can flex to the demands of the business. This is a very important and busy part of the business where no two days will ever be the same. The following skills and interests will be very valuable:

  • Making, creating or fixing things
  • Analysis/problem solving
  • Cars or mechanical systems
  • Teamwork and communication

Required Qualifications

Entry requirements: 5 GCSE’s at level 4 (C or above)
