We are looking for a Skilled Machinist for a 9-month contract on a 24/6 shift pattern based in Barnoldswick for Rolls-Royce who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.
As a Skilled Machinist you will be responsible for:
- Performing Special Process/Operational tasks consistent with the requirements of the team, statutory and company standards (e.g. Health, Safety, Environment, Quality Management System, Production System) including the manufacture and assembly of components and sub-assemblies.
- Participating in process improvement activities and compliance methodologies, in order to satisfy customer needs and cost reduction targets. This may include elements of factory set up and workstation design.
- Following production plans to meet customer requirements.
- Participating in cost reduction/operational improvements to satisfy customer needs.
- Contributing to achievement of cell performance targets.
- Recognising and performing asset maintenance activities to ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and reliable to a high-performance standard.
- Working with other team members to deliver team objectives and requirements, including knowledge sharing and training others.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience or approval in one or more of the following processes: Previous water-jet experience.
- Run DMG milling machine.
- Ability to follow technical instruction.
- Previously engraved to drawing and technical instructions.
- Skilled position & will hold NVQ level 3 and served recognised apprenticeship.
- A willingness to learn and adapt across a range of product types, processes, machines, and technologies.
- Strong process management skills and ability to comply with operating procedures and apply lessons learned to improvement activities.
- Experience of working in a team environment that requires effective relationship building and training of work colleagues.
- Computer literate with good communication skills.
- Prepared to work 3 shifts and additional hours if required.
