The Power Electronics Design Engineer will be based in Derby on a 12 month contract. This role is a hybrid role 3 days onsite and 2 days from home.
As Power Electronics Design Lead you will be responsible for leading the design, development and validation of an AC/DC Power converter for power drive systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for delivery of the design solutions in line with the declared project milestones and budget
- Ensure that the tools and methods appropriate to Electronics and Electrical (E&E) are rigorously applied.
- Accountable for developing and maintaining the overall plan of engineering tasks for all of the assigned design solutions
- Coordinate and lead a team of Engineers in delivery of the overall engineering plan, supported by the associated Technical Coach and the Capability managers responsible for the assigned individuals.
- Support the Programme Manager in achieving delivery of the design solutions within the agreed budget.
- Act as the single point of contact for reporting to the project and/or key stakeholders.
- Accountable for managing the work scope, including the negotiation for resource, estimation of the effort required to accomplish the engineering plan.
- Accountable for ensuring all non-conformances and minor design changes that are relevant to your project(s) are dealt with in a timely manner.
- To escalate effectively where issues require further support from a broader team.
- Accountable for the management of the risks and issues on their design solutions including escalation as required.
- Accountable for ensuring that the design questions for milestone reviews are completed by the team.
- Support the Capability Managers in performance discussions and development cells.
Criteria
- Experience of people management and processes
- Knowledge of Electronics and/or Electrical design and verification.
- Relevant Engineering and technical competence (Power Electronics).
- Managed and led a multidisciplinary team to deliver power systems projects, taking responsibility for planning, design, integration, and delivery while ensuring the work stayed on track with time, cost, and quality targets.
