Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role on a
12 month contract
based in
Bristol (hybrid - 3 days working on site, 2 days working remote per week). Key Responsibilities Produce and review high-quality engineering documentation, including technical reports, design justification, and supporting project deliverables. Support mechanical design activities within CAD environments, ensuring designs meet programme requirements and engineering standards. Provide mechanical engineering expertise across system and equipment integration activities. Work effectively within a developing programme environment, managing ambiguity and adapting to evolving requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful integration of mechanical and electrical systems. Contribute to technical decision-making and problem-solving activities throughout the project lifecycle. Required Experience
Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally gained within defence, aerospace, marine, or other highly regulated industries. Experience supporting complex engineering programmes throughout the design and development lifecycle. Understanding of the mechanical considerations associated with electrical power distribution equipment and systems. Experience dealing with complex packaging constraints and equipment integration challenges. Knowledge of environmental and platform-specific requirements, including shock, vibration, and operational loads. Ability to work at both systems and component level, with a preference for candidates who can demonstrate broader systems-thinking capability.
