Project Design Engineer (Tooling, Lifting & Handling) – Submarines
Full time
Derby/Hybrid (3 days per week in the office as a minimum)
An exciting opportunity is available for a Project Design Engineer with strong project management and supplier management expertise. This Project Design Engineer role sits within our Services Delivery Business Unit (DBU) in Submarines, Derby. The Services DBU is one of the primary delivery agencies for the submarines business and our key customer organisations and is responsible for delivering key projects relating to submarine build, in-service support to the existing submarine fleet and upgrade of our site infrastructure.
The Project Design Engineer will play an integral part in supporting the design, manufacture, and substantiation of a variety of lifting, handling, storage, and tooling solutions for both nuclear and non-nuclear related products and systems.

What you will be doing
The Project Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the delivery of engineering work packages via our design supply chain and will form the key engineering and technical interface between the customer, internal engineering staff and supply chain partners. This role presents a chance to work in a fast-paced design and manufacturing environment across a broad portfolio of challenging engineering work packages.
Working with a variety of stakeholders to develop requirements.Definition of work scopes for delivery in the supply chain.Influencing supplier selection.Technical support, oversight and direction to our design suppliers.Maintaining and developing relationships with our internal customers and supply chain partners.Maintaining high level plans and progress reporting at relevant forums.Design support to manufacturing queries.
