We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dispensary Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our busy GP dispensing practice in Lympstone. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to manage a patient-focused dispensary, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant supply of medicines to approximately 1,200 dispensing patients. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the dispensary team while maintaining high standards of patient care, governance and operational efficiency. Main duties of the job
- Leadership
- Lead, support and develop the dispensary team.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Operational Management
- Oversee the safe and efficient dispensing of prescriptions.
- Ensure dispensary workflows are effective and patient-focused.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and customer service.
- Monitor and improve dispensary performance and processes.
- Governance and Compliance
- Maintain and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, NHS requirements and CQC standards.
- Manage controlled drug procedures and associated records.
- Investigate and report dispensing incidents, near misses and significant events.
- Lead dispensary audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stock and Financial Management
- Manage medicine ordering and stock control.
- Monitor expiry dates and minimise wastage.
- Ensure efficient procurement and supplier management.
- Support prescription reimbursement and dispensary financial performance.
- Patient Interaction
- Provide excellent service to dispensing patients.
- Respond professionally to patient queries and concerns.
- Work closely with GPs, practice nurses and administrative teams to support patient care.
About us
Rolle Medical Partnership provides high quality primary care under a General Medical Services Contract delivering full general practice and additional enhanced services as well as care and support for our patients with long term conditions who live within our area. Our list size is around 26,000 and we monitor our size and workload to ensure we have adequate clinical and administrative staff to adapt accordingly. We have four surgery sites, including our dispensing surgery in Lympstone. We strive to be as effective and efficient as possible in terms of the healthcare we provide.

Person Specification
Experience
- Experience working within a GP dispensary, community pharmacy or dispensing practice.
- Experience of medicines dispensing and stock control.
- Previous experience as a Dispensary Lead.
- Experience of DSQS compliance.
Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above).
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent dispensing qualification).
