We’re a team of musicians, engineers, coders, researchers, and creatives of every background, united by a passion for learning, innovation, and collaboration.
Your Purpose: Contributing to a close-knit, and highly collaborative work environment and reporting directly to the Head of Embedded Systems and Hardware Manager, you will be responsible for schematic and layout design for an exciting new product currently in development.
Your Responsibilities:
- You will design the electronics schematics and PCB layout in Altium for a new product, moving from design concept to production.
- You will collaborate with other members of the hardware team including Firmware, Mechanical Engineers, and Industrial Designers as well as attend and contribute to regular project and design review meetings.
- You will perform design testing and validation as well as work with contract manufacturers to ensure your designs are manufacturable and testable.
Who We’re Looking For:
- You have a minimum of 5+ years in electronic hardware and design.
- You have taken hands-on responsibility for power supply design and management, including USB-C Power Delivery, and have personally designed and implemented circuits using microcontrollers, transistors, MOSFETs, and Op Amps.
- You have personally designed and implemented high-speed digital interfaces, such as USB 2.0 and MIPI-CSI, with direct ownership of signal integrity, implementation, and validation.
- You have independently owned PCB layout for BGAs, and have deep, practical experience designing high-density PCBs using Altium, with personal ownership of schematics and layout design, and hands-on experience designing for manufacture and test.
- You have independently optimised designs for cost, making component, layout, and architecture trade-offs while maintaining high quality, reliability, and performance.
- You have designed products to meet international regulatory requirements, including EMC, ESD, and electrical safety standards, and have been directly involved in compliance-driven design decisions.
- You are naturally inquis and proactive, with demonstrable examples of independently identifying problems and implementing effective, forward-looking solutions.
- You manage your time exceptionally well and are comfortable working autonomously, planning and delivering work with minimal supervision.
- You communicate clearly and work effectively with people at all levels, collaborating confidently across engineering, manufacturing, and non-technical teams.
It’s music to our ears if:
- You have knowledge of MIDI and other musical data exchange protocols.
- A passion for music, technology as well as experience working at a startup company.
Your Impact: You’ll know you’re succeeding when:
- You have delivered schematics and PCB layouts ready and have undergone compliance pre-scans.
- You have validated core systems, including power delivery, high-speed interfaces, and BGA components.
- You have optimised designs for cost, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance.
- You have been working independently while being recognised as a trusted collaborator across all teams.
Life at ROLI: This role comes with a competitive salary and some benefits designed to support your health, well-being and creativity, including hack days, yoga classes and a product lending library. You’ll also enjoy regular social events, from summer and end-of-year parties to team outings.
