Description

Role overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing cloud engineering team. We are looking for passionate and experienced Cloud Systems Architects who are keen to be part of our award winning multi-disciplinary delivery teams, working closely with software engineers, product owners, platform engineers, testers and a variety of other stakeholders.

We want you to bring your experience and passion for cloud architecture to help us build best practices and deliver innovative solutions for our clients. You'll be working across one or two accounts, driving the technical vision for a solution and supporting the teams to ensure we are delivering exceptional digital products.

The projects and technologies you work on will vary by client, but often include things like microservices, containerisation, serverless, service buses, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, cloud security, AI and other interesting tech.

These are mainly cloud-based, with a focus on the Microsoft Azure stack, though we work across AWS and hybrid environments too. Working with multiple clients over time has the great benefit that you will get to experience a variety of technologies, as well as ways of working, standards, documentation styles and people, which helps make this an interesting and challenging role.

Key responsibilities

As the Cloud Solutions Architect, you will own the technical vision for your accounts and take accountability for the solutions your teams deliver. The exact mix of work shifts with each client, but your responsibilities typically include:

• Architecting and implementing robust cloud solutions on AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments that perform at scale. For example:

• Leading architecture workshops.

• Advising the client's product owners on the infrastructure implications of backlog and roadmap decisions.

• Owning and managing infrastructure change and provisioning requests raised by the delivery team.

• Making the infrastructure decisions within the role's remit to keep delivery on timeline, escalating client-level decisions as required.

• Provisioning infrastructure components and granting access within the client's Azure and AWS subscriptions.

• Coordinating access to the existing client infrastructure required for each delivery.

• Taking ownership of technical architecture, design, and code deliverables.

• Collaborating directly with other Cloud Systems Engineering teams on the implementation and technical onboarding of tenants, these may include specific markets and internal client departments.

• Leading cloud transformation from strategy through execution, delivering additional functionality agreed with programme leadership as it is identified.

• Identifying operational gaps and building automation frameworks end to end, reducing manual effort across the delivery team.

• Ensuring all solutions meet security and compliance standards without compromising performance.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

• Proven experience as a Cloud Solutions Architect, designing and delivering solutions at scale on AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments.

• Recognised cloud certifications, for example AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

• Hands-on expertise with infrastructure-as-code and automation tooling, for example Terraform, Bicep, and CI/CD pipelines. • Strong grounding in cloud security and compliance standards.

• Experience delivering within large enterprise or telecommunications environments, working alongside third-party vendors. • Excellent stakeholder and communication skills, comfortable leading workshops and guiding product ownership decisions.

Delivery support

The Cloud Solutions Architect will also support the Project Manager and Delivery Lead, who work with engineering and development resources on:

• Delivery planning and prioritisation, including sprint story definition and sizing.

• Sprint administration, including keeping task tickets updated with progress.

• Consolidated delivery progress updates for Cloud Engineering programme leadership, which may also feed into business cases, assurance, and strategy.
