About the role
Are you a public sector bid writer who's tired of polishing other people's processes and wants to build your own? This is your chance to shape how a category-defining AI company wins partnerships across the UK, USA, Australia and Europe, at exactly the moment it matters most. Our software is growing fast, and we're building the bids team of the future to power it. AI has changed the game, and we need someone ready to rewrite the rulebook. You'll take us from 0-to-1, designing innovative processes from scratch and deciding how AI can supercharge the way we draft and win. We are setting the new standard for world-class proposal work in public sector tech. You won't be inheriting a playbook. You'll be writing it.
Your job is to tell that story brilliantly, win the contracts that put cutting‑edge tools in more practitioners' hands, and get a front‑row seat to where AI in public services are heading.
You’ll be:
- Owning bids end-to-end: leading drafting and storyboarding from first scan to final submission, producing work that wins contracts and puts Beam tools in the hands of more frontline workers.
- Reinventing how bid writing works: identifying drafting efficiencies using AI and building new processes that make us faster and more streamlined than anyone else in the market.
- Deciding what we chase: running scoping on bids identified, we pursue the opportunities that genuinely move Beam forward.
- Writing beyond bids: drafting award entries, RFIs and written submissions for our sales teams, making sure every piece of writing that leaves Beam is sharp and persuasive.
- Owning key relationships: managing our bid scanning platform partnership so we never miss the right opportunity, running our G‑Cloud framework presence and partnering with sales colleagues to get early insight into upcoming opportunities.
- Taking Beam global: providing international procurement advice across the USA and Australia, and supporting the day‑to‑day relationship with our Global team as we scale into new markets.
- Developing our Bids Executive team: supporting their onboarding, reviewing their work and managing the bids they run, helping them grow while raising the quality bar across the team.
- Levelling up the people around you: You love working with sales and are excited to act as their strategic partner. You'll run targeted training that levels up the team, ensuring everyone is equipped to navigate enterprise procurement and win.
You are:
- A proven public sector bid writer: you have real bid writing expertise within the public sector.
- Sparky and proactive: you spot what needs doing before anyone asks, and you bring energy that lifts the people around you.
- A natural collaborator: you work brilliantly across teams, building strong relationships with Sales, Trust & Safety, Legal and, over time, Marketing.
- Deeply Inquisitive: you ask specific, well‑thought out strategic questions, and you genuinely want to understand how things work before improving them.
- Startup-shaped: ideally you've done bid writing in the public sector and then taken that expertise into a startup. We're open to candidates without startup experience, but you'll need to show us you can thrive in pace and ambiguity.
Bonus points:
- You've worked on bids and proposals in a social care or a healthcare context.
- You have practical experience working in procurement within a public sector organisation.
- You’ve worked on international tenders, especially in the United States.
- You bring expertise in key government frameworks, such as GCloud.
Perks:
- Generous EMI‑qualifying share options
- Access to therapy, coaching, classes & content - powered by Oliva
- Your own financial well‑being coach, through Bippit
- Generous Holiday - 25 days with 3 additional days over the Christmas period
