Job Description

Commercial Manager

Worcester/ Midlands

£negotiable

We are looking for a commercial manager for various civils projects around the midlands. The Commercial Manager is required to ensure that all commercial aspects of the projects under their remit are properly managed and controlled, and that commercial strategy is developed and delivered in accordance with the requirements of the business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assessing, reviewing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks.
  • Completing and supporting the authorisation and submission of project variations.
  • Maximising cashflow through the control, measurement and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers.
  • Responsible for the line management of the Quantity Surveying team within the department. This will include team meeting, day to day matters, looking after the wellbeing of employees and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting across all projects within the department through to the delivery of this forecast via the monthly reporting process.
  • Ensuring monthly commercial reports are completed accurately and inline with the month end reporting timetable
  • Be responsible for commercial strategy on tenders and opportunities, linking risk and commercial terms and coming up with innovative solutions.
  • Negotiation of contract conditions and documents, including warranties and bonds.
  • Working closely with the work winning department and business leaders in ensuring a focus on future work generation and driving strategic growth.
  • Ensuring regular stake holder engagement with current and future clients, building a trusted and collaborative relationship.
  • Continuously develop and improve Commercial Polices and Processes.
  • Effectively manage change and operational efficiency, continuously identify areas for business improvement.

Requirements:

  • Overseeing and management of Managing Quantity Surveyor.
  • Experience of development and implementation of procedures.
  • Knowledge of wide range of contract conditions.
  • Strong contractual experience.
  • Ability to solve problems efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise a busy workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Evidence new ways of thinking which deliver benefits.
  • Experience of disputes resolution options and techniques.
  • Knowledge and application of legislation and the ability to liaise with legal experts
