A leading international executive search and human capital advisory firm is hiring three Associate Consultants to join its graduate rotational programme this September. The firm advises investors, boards, and leadership teams on some of the most commercially significant hiring decisions in the market. Working across sectors including private equity, investment management, technology, consumer, and business services, the team partners with organisations undergoing growth, transformation, investment, and strategic change.

Executive search is a research-driven, analytical, and advisory profession focused on solving complex leadership problems. The work combines market intelligence, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and high-level communication. Associates are expected to develop a deep understanding of industries, competitive landscapes, and what makes exceptional leadership talent successful.

The environment is intellectually demanding, collaborative, and fast-paced, making it particularly well suited to high-achieving graduates with strong academic backgrounds and genuine commercial curiosity.

The Role

Associates are embedded into live retained search assignments from the outset and gain exposure to the full search lifecycle. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Attending client briefing and kick-off meetings
  • Conducting market mapping and competitive analysis
  • Researching companies, investment strategies, and leadership structures
  • Identifying and engaging senior-level talent
  • Producing longlists and market insight reports
  • Gathering referencing and candidate intelligence
  • Supporting competency and experiential candidate assessment
  • Coordinating and managing interview processes
  • Participating in client update meetings and search strategy discussions

Searches are typically delivered over a 3–6 month period and involve close interaction with senior stakeholders throughout.

Rotational Programme

The Associate Programme is designed to provide broad exposure across the business before specialisation. Over a three-year period, Associates complete:

  • Five six-month rotations across different practice areas
  • A final rotation within their preferred specialism

Practice exposure may include:

  • Investment Management
  • Private Equity
  • Technology
  • Consumer
  • Financial Services
  • Business Services

New hires complete a structured six-week training programme covering the executive search process end-to-end, including practical simulation work within a mock-search environment.

What They’re Looking For

The firm is interested in graduates who demonstrate:

  • Strong academic achievement
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical thinking and research capability
  • Commercial awareness
  • Initiative and proactivity
  • Attention to detail
  • Confidence interacting with senior stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset

Additional European language skills such as French, German, Spanish, or Nordic languages are advantageous but not essential. Many current consultants come from academically rigorous backgrounds spanning subjects such as Economics, History, Philosophy, Politics, Languages, PPE, Classics, and Finance from leading universities including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Bristol, Durham, Nottingham, and Exeter.

Compensation & Progression

Base Salary:

  • Year 1: £36,000
  • Year 2: £40,000
  • Year 3: £45,000

Progression beyond the rotational programme continues into Senior Associate and Principal-level consulting roles.

Bonus:

  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Additional annual profit-share scheme

Working Environment

Central London office with an office-first culture. Associates attend the office five days per week during Year 1. Greater flexibility is introduced as consultants progress past year 1 to hybrid working. The culture is collaborative, rigorous, and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis placed on long-term development and quality of work over transactional recruitment.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

For graduates interested in business, strategy, markets, and leadership, executive search offers unusually early exposure to senior decision-makers and commercially significant conversations. The role suits individuals who enjoy:

  • Understanding how businesses operate
  • Analysing industries and competitive dynamics
  • Building credibility with intelligent people
  • Solving nuanced commercial problems
  • Working in environments where communication and judgement matter

This is an opportunity to build a long-term career within a highly respected advisory environment with clear progression, strong mentorship, and meaningful responsibility from an early stage. There is a 3 stage interview process and candidates must be able to attend a final interview onsite in London.

Please apply directly or email sian@rolefilled to express your interest and suitability. Good Luck!
