About The Team

We believe that great user experiences come from people who have the vision to see the big picture while still maintaining an incredible attention to detail. The User Experience team at Roku is comprised of UX designers, researchers, and writers working collaboratively with our world-class Product and Engineering teams to meet customer needs for a Roku experience that delivers simplicity and delight.

About The Role

Roku is looking for a UX Product Designer with strong interaction design skills to design subscription flows for the web and mobile web, and to improve the subscriber experience within the web version of The Roku Channel. Subscription flows will include new sign-ups and subscription management, with elements to consider like add-ons, bundles, deals, and applying Roku credit.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work closely with Product Managers to identify the problems and business goals that your designs will address
  • Design features that help Roku users sign up for subscriptions services quickly and seamlessly, using consistent language and design patterns across platforms
  • Work with Product Managers, Marketing, and our Machine Learning experts to present the most relevant subscription offers to customers at the right time, and to test multiple variations of your design live to determine which produce the best user and business results
  • Work with Product Managers to design new features to improve the navigation and viewing experience of Premium Subscriptions offered within The Roku Channel
  • Partner with experienced User Researchers to gain insight on user needs, and to determine and execute the ideal research methodology to evaluate your designs
  • Collaborate with other Subscriptions-related UX Designers and a dedicated UX Writer to help acquire and retain subscribers
  • Own your designs and communicate effectively, articulating your design decisions to colleagues from diverse disciplines
  • Give and receive feedback in regular design critiques with your peers and in formal design reviews with UX management

We’re Excited If You Have

  • Experience designing a variety of features that acquire and retain subscribers for a service. Experience designing web-based browse, search, and playback features for video entertainment is a plus.
  • A proven track record in interaction design, showing artifacts of the process that help support your design decisions, as well as the business results driven by those designs
  • Experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and management to refine design concepts through rapid iterations, meeting the goals of both users and the business
  • Hands-on experience working with User Researchers (or conducting User Research yourself) and utilizing the results of that research to shape your designs
  • Expertise in modern web standards and responsive web design, plus proficiency in designing and prototyping with Figma
  • A passion for getting the subtle details right when it comes to creating a high-performing, world-class experience
  • Endless empathy for the user

The Roku Culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company\’s success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We\’re independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you\’ll be part of a company that\’s changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn\’t real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
